I am absolutely one of those people whose bookshelf is filled to the brim with 50% unread material. Yet I continues to make lists of books that I MUST read day in and day out. My mind tends to grab on to and obsess over a certain subject for weeks at a time but the novelty wears off and I’m on to the next subject. NO MORE! Here is my 2017 checklist of what I will be feeding my brain(and mastering!) in the new year.
Western Herbalism // Now that I am getting nestled into Portland, I want to find my plant allies in the Pacific Northwest! I found this school over the weekend and the moment I found it I knew what I would be immersing myself in this year.
Book List // I started working my way through a very long booklist towards the end of 2016 and I want to complete at least half of it this year (there’s over 50 books on it…opps). Think I can do it?
Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Program // I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge base in order to help myself, my clients, and the community at large. Understanding both the basic and the more intricate facets of nutrition has been foundational in healing my body and I am eager to deepen my understanding!
The Art of Fermentation // As I work on cultivating a diverse microbiome throughout my entire body (yes, your ears, nose, throat, gut, reproductive organs, intestines…even your mouth has a microbiome!) I have been wanting to ferment anything and everything. I am basically a kombucha and sauerkraut addict but I want to make recipes like this and this in the new year to incorporate new varieties of cultured vegetables into my system.
Self-Knowledge // Most important on this list, I want to develop a deeper understanding of my self. I want to learn the art of listening and conscious awareness. Our bodies are always speaking to us in the most subtle ways. Usually when we develop a physical symptom it has connections to the deep recesses of our psyche. In essence, the body wants us to unravel emotional patterns that are impeding our growth. When we make a commitment to listen to our bodies and not suppress our emotions, our lives shift in unimaginable ways. I know I’m making a bold, blanket statement here but this rationale has proven itself to me over and over again in my personal life and in the lives of those around me.
Happy 2017! Wising you exponential growth in the months to come.
